PLAYING OURSELVES? FEMALE FACTOR
OnPointt Online is taking on very CONTROVERSAL SUBJECTS in the realm of Sports/Females.
SUBJECTS UP FOR DISCUSSION:
Females in sports, unfair associations that many players, and administration females in sports are lesbians, or at least, bi-sexual. Hell if you are a lesbian or bisexual female do what you do but don't step over the line. Stepping over the line when you have big aspirations to go far in sports/remain in ranking positions will have consequences that keeps you from the career you love.
Here at The Other Side Of The Game, we take a look at female coaches and black female coaches on the college/pro level. Finally we take a look at a known trend and unfair association that is affecting young females before getting to college to play sports. We are putting it out there.
We know all of these statements are sensitive subject material. Here at the OTHER SIDE, our goal is to be FAIR, AND BALANCED. Facts will be stated as facts, and opinions as opinions.

If you disagree with what is being showcased, we welcome your comments. It is a matter of
opinion on what you agree or disagree on. Thanks for stopping through to THE OTHER SIDE.
OTHER SIDE OF THE GAME 2007 As Told By -Meagan Hunter, Tre' Burris, and Sasha S.

March 2007 I LSU HEAD COACH POKEY CHATMAN resigns as Head Coach of LSU!
STATEMENT FROM CHATMAN: "My resignation yesterday has prompted speculation and rumors that far exceeded my expectations and it is clear that my presence would be a distraction during the NCAA Tournament. I believe it is in the best interests of the team that I step away from my coaching duties immediately. I want the players and staff to have the best chance to maximize the opportunities we've earned. I have every confidence in the young ladies and the remaining coaches that they will have success in the NCAA Tournament."

CONVERSATIONS... via phone/conference call MARCH 8, 2007
"Here we go again, I am tired of being disappointed, I am pissed!" says Tre' Burris a former college basketball player. "As a Black Woman, who would have loved to hold records like Pokey and have her position as a head coach, I am so pissed the f*** off!" 'How do you walk away if there isn't some guilt going on?" says Sasha S. ONPOINTT.COM: No one is guilty until proven or an admission has taken place. TRE': Okay...whateva. I love myself some Pokey, I admire what she has done but I love and respect the game more." SASHA: There is a code man, especially if you are up there in the sports world, DON'T F**** YOURSELF UP!" (laughing).

TRE': As a former basketball player I know there are same sex relationships hapening with sport adiministrators, coaches and students/playes are in the mix. Most times its the students who are the agressors but that line has to be drawn." ONPOINTT.COM: Are the students being agressive for special treatment? Sasha: "Of course, for the most part." TRE': Yes, and it's crazy that an adult figure would go there. ONPOINTT.COM: Are you a lesbian or bisexual Tre'? TRE': I am, sure am and proud of it but let me say something here, I do feel like with anyone you have to make wise choices." "I don't care what type of agressive tactics someone puts down, if they put you or you put yourself in a position to mess up all that you have created for yourself, YIELD to the 'T'!" SASHA: "I am heterosexual. I love the game, and I hope to go Pro. There is this whole mindset that if you play sports as a female you are automatically a lesbian or bi. Those who don't truly know themselves feel they have to act the part, dress the part and indulge in a same sex lifestyle."
I am not knocking anyone but I grew up with examples of women in my own household that you can play sports as a woman, and still be that feminine, hetero female." "Somewhere along the line it got twisted and I see young girls in high school looking so manly, getting up with manly girls,
and I think many of them feel that is the way it should be." "I have a few teamates who do the lil come ons, even when my man is present but for the most part, they respect my clear choice.
I play sports with some talented females but I love my man and I look forward to having that big ol wedding, and some chillen (children (laughing loudly)!" I think many young girls are confused.

ONPONITT.COM: If the allegations are true for Pokey? TRE': Bad and sad for her, lesbians and black women, there I said it!" SASHA: "I think it will make it harder for upcoming black women coaches to really not be judged by the personal when it should be the professional, the record. Women always had to go that extra mile and don't get me started about black women."
"Whoever put this out was definitely going for the juggler, I hate it for her!."

A LOOK AT THE FASHION INDUSTRY
NNUDE ONLINE I A Look At The Fashion Industry, Models, And Substance Abuse

The Fashion Industry has always been about 'The Look'. If you have it you will go far, you will see the world, meet the IMPORTANT PEOPLE, and you will be exposed to many things. You will be adored, you will be in demand, the beauty you have will be talked about almost 24/7. You are to be kept 'up' never 'down'. BUT! There is a price! One wrong move of human flaw and you could be black-balled from the industry. If you get too out of control, you will be discarded. Ad campaigns will be pulled from you. Your career will be over.

No one will want to touch you. Some in the Fashion Industry aren't comfortable when hearing the name Gia.

Gia who you ask?

Gia Carangi was one of the first Supermodels in the 1970's. She was beautiful, in demand, and she led a bisexual lifestyle. She disliked too much make-up during a photo shoot, and her individual style when walking the catwalks made people gravitate towards her. Gia's career high was during the hey day of Studio 54. There was alot of drinking, promiscuous sex, and drugs going on during this era. The Fashion Industry knew but as long as their girls were getting the job done it didn't matter. It is well documented and known that on some photo shoots and before the catwalks on the runway girls were supplied drugs and alcohol.

JOHNSON C SMITH UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT Dr. DOROTHY COWSER YANCY Retires 2008

A Fellow Smithite, Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy has made the announcement she plans to retire in 2008 as President Of JCSU. Yancy came to Johnson C. Smith in 1994. She replaced Dr. Robert L Albright 1983-1994) who resigned as the 11th President of JCSU. History was made on many levels; 1st Woman President of JCSU, Removing Fraternity/Sorority Plots from the entrance of the campus, to the back of the campus ( not too many people were happy with that move, students, alumni alike) but she made more great strides for all of us to be very proud of.

Notably, under her leadership she has raised $80.6 million (Universities $75 million campaign, ending June 30, 2007), academics have increased on national/regional levels, in the year 2000 JCSU became the FIRST Historically Black 'Laptop' College and University. JCSU issued IBM Thinkpads to all students. "Technology impacts everything that we do here at JCSU." says Dr. Yancy. A new technology center, library, and track/stadium/academic complex was constructed.

Our beloved Biddle Hall was restored, and more positve growth on many levels happened under Dr. Yancy's leadership.

She graduated in 1964 from Johnson C. Smith University, received her master's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her doctorate from Atlanta University in 1978. Here is a woman many are inspired by and many can be inspired by. Quote By Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy: "I am excited about moving on to the next chapter of my career. JCSU made me who Iam today and it feels good to know that I have given back by raising the bar to a higher level. I believe the institution is positioned to move to the next level and I look forward to its continued success."

Well done Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy, Ya Done Good!

THE POSITIVE ZONE I THE CONNECTION FEATURE AT ONPOINTT.COM
Becoming A Mother Past 35 Year Of Age. Be Intelligently Informed.
You've heard the news of the lady giving birth over the age of 60 recenlty. While we don't recommend it for everyone, what we do want to showcase at THE CONNECTION is the subject of women over 35 making decisions to have a child/children. You would be suprised how so many women have made the decision to wait past their 20's, and early 30's to have their first child. Bringing a child into this world should not be taken lightly. Many people talk against those who want to wait later in life to have children. Statistics show in great numbers, those having children later in life give their children more stability, a better chance at a better economic life and many more reasons we have provided through links (see below).

What we want to stress here is that when considering having children, it should be more of a choice than a 'oops' in the world we live in today. Today there is so much in terms of contraception, fertility, medical information, statistics and more where you can make intelligent choices about preparing for conception/having a healthy pregnancy/baby.

Plus So Much More! Life Is A Great Advenuture, Explore!
How much do we think we know of ourselves? Have we placed ourselves in situations where we aren't so 'predictable'. Predictable can be a good thing and predictable can be a bad thing. Have a 'trump' in your life when you need it. There is alot of 'ills' happening in the world. Everytime we turn on the news we see so much suffering, loss of life and it's not good for the soul. While we should be aware of what is happening in the world, we should be creating a life of peace for ourselves in our own inner circle. Consider taking a retreat solo or with a group (Anjel Valley/Spiritual Holiday). If funds are low, try taking a journey online, a peaceful one at Garden Plum and for some relfection, try some philosophy in your life (eye of beauty). Once we have experienced things/people out of our comfort zone, we are truly living becasue we take what we've been taught, adding in some great intuition, spiritual guidance -unbeatable combination.
