It is a FACT that many of us rely on the media to give us the information we need when viewing major events. Once we receive the information, most times we form our opinions based on just one or a select few of coverages coming from the media/media personalities whom we highly favor. Whether your source for the media is television, radio, internet or newspaper, it is time to elevate yourself higher especially when this is the year to elect the next President Of The United States. Without a doubt 2008 is one of the most exciting Presidential years because of the candidates running for the highest office in the United States - COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Interesting indeed because in the Democrats Camp, we have a woman Senator Hillary Clinton running for President and we have Senator Barack Obama, if elected as the Democratic Nominee he would be in the history books if he won the election as the First African-American President Of The United States. Indeed this is an exciting time for political enthusiast and a critical one for all of those who will be casting their vote in November of this year 2008.

In the beginning we saw some interesting candidates on both the Republican and Democrat sides. Some candidates we knew more about than others. It is time to not just listen to the talking points from your newsource, it is time to really do your own investigative research. HOW TO GET STARTED? LET US SUGGEST...

NO MATTER WHAT PARTY YOU ALIGN YOURSELF WITH, VISIT THE OFFICIAL SITES FOR ALL CANDIDATES RUNNING... there are only four running at this time so your research time has been reduced significantly since the beginning when there were so many candidates on each side of the spectrum of Democrats and Republicans. Make it a comfortable visit, pour up your favorite drink ( we do not advise alcohol, stay alert, to be more informed ), grab your favorite snack, if on the computer, open up notepad or word. Copy and paste certain points that really take a hold of your attention. Write down how you feel at that moment about each candidates views on issues you feel are important to you. From there, after you visit the official websites, visit your favorite newsources and see what they are talking about. You even want to do a search on other sites that may have a different reporting approach than what you are use too. If a candidate is going to make it to your city, town, or close to it where you can spare the time to drive, make it a trip to be where they are going to be. The visual is so much more of an impact than many think. You may even have a opportunity to speak with them, voice your concerns, or speak with a campaign person who will be representing them. Having a nice evening of rountable discussions with close friends, or formidable colleagues about the latest in the Race For The White House is also in good form.

It is always good to hear others opinions about one of the most exciting Presidential races we've seen in a long time. Finding the investigative reporter in you is exciting for you too! As ( Polard, 2004 ) mentioned, If you take a frog and put it in a pot of extremely hot water, it's obvious that frog will jump and try to get out of the water. However, if you put that same frog in a pot of water that is tepid, and turn the heat on very low, that frog will lay there very quietly; and as the water gradually heats up the frog will calmly fallin a state of unconsciousness; and eventually allow itself to be boiled to death.

Now many of us maybe asking why didn't the frog jump out of the pot. After all, there was no barrier between him and his freedom. Well a big reason why the frog did not jump is due to the fact his threat sensing capability is generated by unexpected changes, not slow ones but changes that are gradual. His survival threat was below his ability to identify those changes.

The whole inference of the frog metaphor for organizations is that we as a whole should try and identify the threats of our survival at an early state when we still have time to plan rather than react to that particular threat; which will be too late. Furthermore, we must also learn how to reduce our threshhold of change in order to be able to identify smaller changes that are occurring in our environment.

TALKING POINTS:: Onpointt Online Magazine 2008:: -- Every major newsworthy Media Outlet was discussing the public no apologies needed endorsement of media mogul Oprah Winfrey backing US Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. A grand gala in New York, a guest on her show, I mean this is where Oprah is when it comes to her CHOICE of picking a Presidential Candidate to endorse. CHOICE is the definitive word. News networks had guest panels on discussing if it was a good thing or bad thing of Oprah's CHOICE. They even talked about how much 'power' does she have when it comes to the public. Do we smell fear? Do we detect detest for an action that has been done openly by others? We can comfortably say yes to both questions presented. Oprah is very powerful make no mistake about it. Still we must not be ignorant of the fact that Americans are fully aware of the current State we are in. There has to be some changes because the current administration has made decisions less to be desired. Americans will take what is before them and make a solid decision on who will be the best person for the position of President of the US.

One thing is for sure, when Obama announced his bid for the Presidential seat, many turned on the race issue. Clearly today, many of us see past this. The Generation of today 21-41 does a better job at looking past the race issue. Interacting with various races on jobs (especially diversity driven Corporations), increasing interracial dating, forming solid friendships with persons of various races, those coming together after catastrophic events, it's a different time now. Quote: I am rooted in the African American Community - Barack Obama - But not limited to it -Oprah Winfrey. This is what many have to understand, what we call the OPRAH WINFREY EFFECT in no way should be taken in racial context. Oprah have given so much opportunities, and has inspired so many people from all walks of life, races, gender, sexualities. We cannot be ignorant to this fact. Still, when she made her choice to whom she feels will be the next leader of this country, so many people felt indifferent and went on the attack.

IT'S HER CHOICE and in the end everyone who step up to vote, it will be their choice When Oprah made her open endorsement on CNN's Larry King Live, King inquired why. "Because I know him personally", Ms. Winfrey replied. "I think that what he stands for, what he has proven that he can stand for, what he has shown was worth me going out on a limb for- and I haven't done it in the past because I haven't felt that anybody, I didn't know anybody well enough to be able to say, I believe in this person." The obvious mention of Hillary Clinton came up, with King and Hillary responded. "I have great respect for Hillary Clinton. I think I've said this before and it's true: Because I am for Barack does not mean I am against Hillary or anybody else." "So the fact that I would endorse Barack Obama and the fact that I would support Barack Obama," Ms. Winfrey added, "I have not one negative thing to say about Hillary Clinton." There is a big problem when we start to disect bit by bit a person and their CHOICES.

When onpointt.com researched several online media markets, we found very disturbing coments about Oprah, Obama that took a racist tone. Remarks not suprisingly came from various races. As Americans we have to push those negative feelings aside. Distaste for a celebrity backing a political candidate should cease. We have to focus on the canidates running for the President Of The United States. We have to focus on their messages, their plans to lead us out of the dark times we are facing. When we can focus on the important things such as that and more, we can go vote intelligently. Our vote will speak volumes. The Oprah Winfrey Effect is real, we've seen the power she has and it all comes from hard work, dedication and consistency in her message to her 'audience'. Will the O Effect have some impact on how one is to vote for Barack Obama. Sure it will but it is not the end all to be all. Celebrity Endorsement, you gotta love it. It really get's the blood boiling for many people Take that attitude to the polls and vote for the right candidate to lead us forward.

A perfect exampleof the Boiling Frog would be our government; they continue to ignore continuous threats to our economy survival. Our government tends to react only to the sudden changes and situations. If we look back at September 11th, 2001 that particular incident was a perfect example of the Boil Frog. According to many, the government had great understanding and knowledge on terror attacks; however they failed to plan ahead and at the same time were very careless about information's they had. As a result, disaster strikes which finally leads them to make better changes.

If we dissect the term "The Boil Frog Phenomenon" in business situations, it will show how organizations are not able to identify slow and graudal threast within the organization and of course react only to sudden chagnes. By organizations focusing only of the satisfaction of key consumers, they failed to detect the continuous threats that the opposition is putting out there; which could play a huge role in the market dynamics in a short period of time ( David, 2007 ). If we really think about it, we don't have enough proof that key consumers will always stick around when our competitors are putting better products out in the market.

As a result, organizatins should react at an early state when there's still time to plan rather than finding themselves in a difficult situation at a later stage. Organizations should try their best to not get caught up in the boil frog phenomenon. In fact, it would be to their advantage if they could try recognizing threats that could be harmful to the organization otherwise the survival for such organization could be extremely difficutl in today's very competitive industry.
