It was Monday July 1st, and my phone was ringing off the hook! My mother called from Savannah wanting to know when I was coming in town for the Fourth of July! Freda called me saying we could ride together ( Freda's from DC but their family reunion is going to be at Valerie's parents home - they are first cousins y'know). Casey (my ex-boyfriend) called saying he wanted to see me and Phil called after four weeks wanting to talk with me before leaving town! Tomorrow I had a conference call with two new Publishing Companies and I needed to look over eight contracts! I did not have time to be dealing with the two of my CONFRONTATIONS. I say confrontations because I needed to end things with Casey one and for all! With Phil, I thought that ended the moment I walked through my doore and left him on the other side ( Did I really wish it was the end? I got the damn butterflies when he called. God help me! ). I shook those feelings off, headed to the bathroom, my place of solitude. Release your waste there and you could release WASTE there! I would think about all of this in another two hours. I ran me a nice lavendar scented bath, lit some candles, played some Boney James and chilled.

VALERIE ALSTON CALABRESE- Talking With Husband Monte
"Let's talk about this after the holidays, I don't want to discuss this!" Valerie said unpinning her hair. "Usually I let you have your way, but I am telling you right now, he had better not show up there!" Monte said angrily. "What control do I have over 'A' coming to this reunion?" "I have none, so just ignore him!" Valerie said brushing her flowing hair. "Your father has been behind this whole bullshit of letting 'A' stay in the picture!" "Last time, we had to endure him and your father talk about the past of you two!" That ass even made slight mention about your former sex life with him!" "I may not beat him, but I sure will deck him this time!" Monte said slamming his fist into his other hand. "I just ignore it, he will get tired of coming around and then he will stop." "I can tell right now, he is getting tired." Valerie said coming closer to Monte to calm him. She knew by calming him down like in the past he would be okay. "You know what Val?" Monte said distrubingly calm. "Wh-What?" "Since you know so much, and you claim he is getting tired what about the constant calls on your cell phone?" Monte stopped Valerie from touching him. She was silent, very silent. "Yeah what about his letters and messages he sends your father and he mails them to you or calls to tell you?" "I AM YOUR HUSBAND!" "While I feel in my heart you love me and you have never cheated on our marriage in a physical way, you owe me this!" "I tell you what though, you handle this once and for all!" "I'm sure he is going to be there so you go endure this silly shit alone!" With saying that Monte walked out of the house. After getting over the shock of Monte's attitude, Valerie called her cousing Freda. She was really shaken up!

NICOLE BOSS- TRAINING CAMP WITH THE NFL TEAM
I'm on assignment, it's hot and I can't get my shoot down the way I want. The gig was given to me by a fellow colleague. I needed the cash, but it is nerve racking hearing the cat calls when I am trying to deal with these players on a serious, professional level! This is why I don't date men my ae or younger! He looked at me long and hard, then turned way to join his teammates. Actually between you and me he had it going on in the bedroom. He looked at me, dropped his towel, and pulled me back on the bed. We made love ( you know what I am saying ) again, and it felt so good. Another two hours of wonderful sex, we took a shower together, he ate breakfast and we made plans to go out of town in the next two weeks. There! If I was going to be the second in line, then I definitely was going to be made to feel like NUMBER ONE too! Where some number two women may feel the need to hold back on how they feel, not me, not Tamera, neva that! I packed my bags and in five hours I would be heading to the airport. Cancun would be my destination for the next few days. While it was work for me, I hope to meet someone cute, single, and with a good position. I just had too! FARRA HART- MAKING THE CALLS
"Mom, it's me Farra." "I will be driving down with Freda on Wednesday." "Things are going good, alright, love you too!" I hung up with my mom, took off my bathrobe and pulled on some jeans and a tube top from the closet. I went into the kitchen, poured me a glass of orange juice and looked out my window at the sky. It was a clear day but I was not clear on ending my relationship as a whole with Casey. Why was it so hard to drop the ax on the ex? He had been unfaithful to me and that helped me quickly end the title of being a couple. I was becoming predictable again with him. He calls and I come running. This would not be Ashanti's song in my life. We had been turning up the heat on our visits lately, especially him and I did not like this at all. I was suppose to be weaning myself off him totally but now he was becoming an addiction. I guess that is why it was so easy to walk away from Phil, even though Phil pissed me off about his assumption of Tamera and assumption of me being such a good girl. It was so easy, because I had Casey to fall back on. I shook all these thoughts and grabbed the cell phone off the countertop. I dialed Casey's number at work. My heat was beating so fast. I thought I was going to faint. After three rings, I was transferred to his voicemail. I didn't leave a message. I somehow felt relieved he did not pick up. This disturbed me even more. It had been a minute since I talked with Phil, so I dialed him up. He answered ( Oh God!). "What's going on lady?" "You tell me, you tell me." I said sounding as carefree as I could. There was silence... I hate silence.

"Okay lady, I don't want to hear any dead air, so I will say what I need to say to you." "I did not like how we ended things and I know on my part, I was out of line. I don't know your girl like that. It was wrong and I apologize." Phil said to me sounding so damn sincere. "I accept your apology Phil but there are a few more things that went along with why I did what I did." "What was that?" He said to me like he forgot the rest of the stuff. I know he didn't. "I am by no means innocent and by no means am I a slut either." "I've been sae in my past, in my present, and I will be in my future." " I don't want any expectations put toward me by anyone, because I don't have time to keep up with appearances." I said to him. He didn't respond. I didn't know what to think. "You there Phil?" "Yeah, and what you said is fair enough." "Does this mean I can see you again, cause I miss you lady... very much." "Right now is not a good time for me, you know it's the holidays and I have some work to look over before I split out of town." "Give me a call next week, we can talk more over the phone and go from there." I said to him. This gave me enough time to figure out what to do with Casey. "That's fair enough, you know I miss you Farra, have a safe trip." "Alright Phil... we'll talk and happy holidays to you too. We hung up and I prepared to make a early conference call and get on with the business of things.

FREDA FRANKLIN DORSEY -On the Phone-TWO WAY STYLE
"Dave, I am not going to be in town, I've told you this over and over!" Freda said clearly exasperated. "Damn Free I haven't spent time with you since your HUSBAND left to go back overseas!" Is there something you trying to tell me?" Dave said practically screaming into Freda's ear. "Look he has all the rights to come home and other things have to be done in my life without sexing your brains out all the time!" Freda shot back. "Oh I see, just when did this just become all about sex Freda?" "We've been together nine months and I can tell when things have cooled off!" "I know you had to perform your wifely duties, but I need to know what is up!" Dave said more calmly to Freda. "My phone is beeping, I will talk with you later." Freda said grateful she did not have to handle this situation at this time. "Well, I tell you what, answer that and I will be over there in an hour." Dave hung up and Freda answered the other call. "Hello!" Freda shouted.

"Hey Freda, it's Val gotta minute?" "Just a minute, gotta get outta here!" Freda said putting on her shoes. "Girl Monte just CONFRONTED me about 'A' coming to the family reunion and he said if 'A' is going to show up he is not going, then he said he wasn't going!" Valerie said running her word together. "I told you to handle that long time ago cuz. That busta don't have no rights coming around the family like that and you... you Val just sit back and let it happen!" Freda said getting her purse. "You think he would let you do what he does to you to his WIFE?" Freda said leaving her place locking the door. "Well I know that I play a part in this mess, so I gotta do what I gotta do!" Valerie said looking in her closet for something to wear. "Yeah you betta do just that, because you have a good man!" "Don't drive him into the arms of blue-eyed blonde, Suzy Q." Freda said sarcastically. "He left awhile ago, and he hasn't called me." Valerie said sadly. "Well I tell you what, I will meet you at Ruby Tuesday in Southpark if you want to talk more." "You dressed?" Freda said getting into her car. "No but I will meet you in 45 mintues. Valerie said pulling an outfit from her closet. "Alright, I'll take the liesure drive over there, I have to get out of dodge." Freda said to Val and they both hung up.

NICOLE CALLING TAMERA
"What's up?" Nicole said. "Who is this?" Tamera replied. "Stop mesing with my man!" Nicole said trying to disguise her voice. "Now you funny Nicole, stop playing girl!" Tamera said giggling. "What you doing?" "Just finished having wonderful sex with Kevin." "We're suppose to be going out of town in a couple of weeks. " "I also had to lay it down about him giving up more time to see me." Tamera said sounding pleased with herself. You are not the only one wh had to lay it down." "Guess who I saw today?" Nicole said to Tamera, knowing T loved juicy news. "Who did you see Nic?" "Daryl B!" "No girl!" Tamera screamed. "He comes up to me trying to talk that ying yang and I just let him know where to go with it!" Nicole said sounding pleased with herself too. "No you didn't!" "Yes I did and I was thinking he was gong to call me out of my name but he didn't." "So what did he do?" Tamera asked. "He walked away, just walked away chewing on tht toothpick of his!" They laughed and discussed wht they had planned for the holidays. "Well bring me back something nice from Cancun." Nicole said. "I sure will and I hope to meet someone nice in Cancun with substance." Nicole rolled her eyes in her head and began to speak. "Today of all days, I will not preach to you about your unrealistic standards." Be safe and call me when you get back." "It is not unreal to want someone with some money, cute and can put it down, hell I work!" "Be safe T!" "You too!"

FREDA AND VALERIE- AT RUBY TUESDAY IN SOUTHPARK 45 MINUTES LATER
"Have you been waiting long?" Valerie said to Freda. "No, not too long. I had a drink and ordered from the salad bar." Freda said motioning for the waiter. The waiter came to get Val's drink order and she got the salad bar too. As they got up to fix their plates, Freda began to speak. "So what are you gonna do?" "I'm gonna call daddy after we sit down and let him know what is going on!" After they fixed their plates, Valerie dialed her parents number. She told her father that she and Monte wasn't comning to the family reunion if "A' was going to show up. Val's father told her it was his house and anyone he invited could come and 'A' would be there. Valerie told her father to get over the fact that Monte was not black, get use to the fact he was her husband, she loved him, and was not leaving him. Her father told her that she belonged with 'A', told her he would see her at the reunion and hung up on Valerie. "You alright?" Freda asked. "Yeah daddy hung up on me... life can be so dreadful. Valerie said as tears welled up in her eyes. "No life deals us the cards and we just play the hand we ar dealt tous and play it smart." Freda said with tough love. Valerie noticed Feda's hands were shaking.

"Are you alright is the question?" "Dave is acting up talking about how cold I have been treating him and confronting me on my WIFELY DUTIES!" "Can you believe he even went there?" "He knows I love my husband and that it is a given that we have sex when he comes home from the military!" Freda exclaimed, cleary outdone with the whole infidelity thing. "Well you have a tangle web you have really weaved too!" Valerie said taking her cousins hand in hers. "Don't I know it!" "So I avoided him, because he said he was on his way to see me!" "I have to let him know it really has to end, because Jerome will be home in six month." "Jerome has let me know in a round about way to get my shit cleared up." Freda said shaking her head. "Well it seems we have to get ourselves together and when the man, "TAKE NO SHIT JEROME" says something he means it!" Valerie said laughing. Freda started laughing too. Then Valerie got serious after pulling herself together. "When you go home, give everyone my love, I am staying in Charlotte, at my house on the lake, with my husand." Valerie declared. "That's a good move cuz, I will tell them." "Support your husband cuz, that is something I haven't been doing too good at." I've got to get over what Jerome did to me in the past and this is not the way to do it." Freda said. "You will do the right thing Free, I know that you will." Valerie said with a wink. Val's cell phone ringed. It was Monte. "Handle the biz!" Freda said winking!

FARRA COMMENTS:
AT SOME POINT OR ANOTHER WE ALL HAVE CONFRONTATIONS. THERE IS NO WAY TO GET FROM AROUND A SITUATION THAT NEEDS SOME CLARIFICATION OR ENDING TO IT. WE GO ON FOR AWHILE, BUT IT EVENTUALLY CATCHES UP TO US TO DO WHAT WE NEED TO DO TO MOVE FORWARD. CASEY WILL HAVE TO BE CONFRONTED AND EVEN THOUGH I WAS RELIEVED NOT TO HAVE DONE IT SO SOON, I KNOW IT STILL HAS TO BE DONE. I WAS GLAD TO CONFRONT THE ISSUES I HAD WITH PHIL. I DID MISS HEARING FROM HIM. EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHERE IT WILL LEAD TO, AT LEAST WE TIED UP SOME LOOSE ENDS.

VALERIE HAD TO CONFRONT THE SITUATION WITH HER DAD, HER HUSBAND AND WITH 'A' COMING AROUND MAKING THINGS SO UNCOMFORTABLE. IF MONTE DID NOT CONFRONT VALERIE WITH HIS DISPLEASURE, THINGS WOULD HAVE ESCALATED TO A BAD PLACE. VALERIE DID THE RIGHT THING IN STICKING BY HER HUSBAND. IT WOULD LET HER FATHER KNOW NOT TO TAKE HER AND HER MARRIAGE FOR GRANTED. A WAKE UP CALL WOULD BE IN ORDER AND IT MADE THE APPEARANCE THIS FOURTH OF JULY.

FREDA KNEW THAT SHE HAD TO HAVE A TALK WITH DAVE BECAUSE HE REALLY WAS BECOMING EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED IN A SITUATION HE CLEARLY KNEW ABOUT. FREDA KNEW THE DANGERS OF SOMEONE GETTING HURT IN ALL OF THIS. WHILE SHE AVOIDS THE CONFRONTATION IT IS INEVITABLE TO HAPPEN. SHE CARES FOR DAVE, BUT SHE LOVES JEROME AND NOW IS THE TIME TO SETTLE UP.

NICOLE IS NO-NONSENSE AND OUT OF ALL OF US, SHE HAS NO PROBLEM WITH CONFRONTATIONS. SHE WAS NOT ABOUT TO LET WHAT SHE DID IN THE PAST BE A CONSTANT REMINDER FROM UNWANTED COMPANY. WHILE SHE ACKNOWLEDGES THE PAST, SHE DID NOT WANT AN ENCORE PERFORMANCE. LUCKILY DARYL TOOK IT LIKE A MAN AND MOVED ON. HER ISSUE WAS LAID TO REST.

TAMERA SAYS WHAT SHE WANTS AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT TOO TOUCH FOR YOU. SHE LET KEVIN KNOW THAT HE HAD TO SHOW HER RESPECT AND GIVE HER MORE TIME. EVEN THOUGH HE COULD HAVE WALKED AWAY SINCE HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND, HE DIDN'T. HE KNEW MISS TAMERA WAS A GOOD WOMAN, GOOD SEXUAL PARTNER AND BASICALLY SHE COULD GET SOMEONE ELSE TO WARM HER SHEETS. FLY, FINE AND A FLIGHT ATTENDANT. HE DID WHAT HE DID BEST, PACIFY HER, AND KEPT HIS ON THE SIDE SEX. QUESTION IS... HOW WAS THIS SITUATION GOING TO TURN OUT AFTER THE LUST OF LUST WEARS OFF? TAMERA IS NOT ONE FOR HANGING AROUND WITH A PAL CALL BOREDOM.

PRINCIPLE IS A VERY STRONG THING TO HAVE WHEN DEALING WITH PEOPLE. ALL FIVE OF US ARE NOT PERFECT BUT WE KNOW THERE IS A THIN LINE BETWEEN ACTION AND PROCRASTINATION. RIGHT NOW WE ALL HAVE ISSUES AND WE WILL WORK THEM OUT. WE ALL KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE OTHER ISSUES AND WE WILL WORK THEM OUT TOO! CONFRONTATIONS! WHAT IS THE CONFRONTATIONS IN YOUR LIFE YOU NEED TO ADDRESS? ASK YOURSELF THIS AND BE VERY HONEST. BETTER DO IT SOONER THAN LATER. HOW WILL YOU HANDLE YOURS?
